Bookish Friday #10
Hello, fellow book lover!
Hope you had a great week.
This week I’ve finally embraced autumn and Halloween through books.
I posted my reading plans for this week on Medium, so if you’re curious to see what I'm planning to read this month, you can read it here.
This month I’m trying out a new genre: horror. I’ve never really been that much into it and I feel like it’s time to start.
So I read Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. “Let’s start slowly” - I thought.
Well, maybe I don’t need to start that slow…
I had somewhat high hopes for this one. I didn’t think it would be scary but I was hoping for a spooky atmosphere perfect for this time of the year.
The atmosphere was there, for sure. Set in an old dark house where silence runs through the halls, the spooky atmosphere is there.
But unfortunately, I was not invested in any of the characters or the story.
I was bored even in the chapters with a bit more action. And by the end, I was just reading it to finish it.
But it’s ok. I have other books that I think *and hope* will make up for this one.
