Hello, fellow book lover, hope you had a great reading month!

This month I solidified my love for Abby Jimenez and have added all of her books to my TBR. Which is now longer than ever (over 1.3K books) to the point that I have accepted that I will not be able to live long enough to read all the books I want to read.

No, but jokes aside, I’ve found so many great books lately, and I just added them to my Goodreads TBR list so I won't forget.

I can’t read them all, but whenever I get into a reading slump or I’m just not feeling inspired to read, I go through my list and rediscover books I’ve added months prior. And most times I find a hidden gem.

So I’m not letting this number bring me down. I’m going to use it to motivate me to read even more.

Because I’ve been reading a lot of great books recently. And hopefully, my next reads will be great as well.

Rute's Bookshelf:

Finished Reading:

  • Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home by Tembi Locke

Currently Reading:

  • The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden

I’m not enjoying this one as much as I did the first 2 of the series. I’m 60% through the book so hopefully the plot twist will be so good it’ll make up for the rest.

On my July TBR:

  • Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen

  • Normal People by Sally Rooney

  • Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

I also want to go back to reading some non-fiction books but I’m going on Holiday for 2 weeks so I’m not sure if that will make me read more or less. Hopefully more so that I can have more to share with you :)

Quote of the week:

“Unhealed trauma is a crack. And all the little hard things that trickle into it that would have rolled off someone else, settle. Then when life gets cold, that crack gets bigger, longer, deeper. It makes new breaks. You don’t know how broken she was or what she was trying to do to fill those cracks. Being broken is not an excuse for bad behavior, you still have to make good choices and do the right thing. But it can be the reason. And sometimes understanding the reason can be what helps you heal.”
― Abby Jimenez, Just for the Summer

Things I’m Loving:

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love audiobooks and how they’ve rekindled my love for reading.

I used to struggle to find time to read until I made a habit of listening to audiobooks.

I have an audiobook on my phone at all times so that whenever I find myself doing something that doesn’t require much concentration, I can put it on and listen to it.

I use Audible to listen to audiobooks and they currently have a 2-month free trial available! If you’ve been thinking about giving audiobooks a try, this is your sign.

They have so many different books you can listen to, including all the books I’ve mentioned in my Book of the Week newsletter.
